With the release of JxBrowser 8 in October 2024, we announced one more year of support for JxBrowser 7. That year is now almost over.

On October 7, 2025, JxBrowser 7 will officially reach end of life. This post explains what that means in practice.

What changes

Starting with October 7, we will no longer release new versions of JxBrowser 7 including minor and patch versions.

We will add new features, fix bugs, and upgrade Chromium in JxBrowser 8 only. We always recommend using the latest version to keep your software secure and up to date.

You can find the latest version on the product home page or in Release Notes.

What doesn’t change

After the end-of-life date, JxBrowser 7 will continue working as before without disruption. In line with its perpetual license, we designed JxBrowser to work perpetually.

We will keep JxBrowser 7 artifacts available in our Maven repositories and ensure that existing download links remain active. The guides and tutorials for JxBrowser 7 will remain on the same web page, and so will the API reference.

How do I switch to JxBrowser 8?

In most cases, you can simply replace your project’s dependencies from JxBrowser 7 to JxBrowser 8. The versions are mostly compatible with minor API differences, which we document in detail in migration guides. You will also need to switch to Java 17 or higher.
